People pay for it, it would be dumb not to add it. There is no other way of income so he can't spend a lot to advertise, pretty much no choice.

He’s done fine in the past without it. They have their forum ranks.

We don't need in game symbols for donator ranks. There's plenty of opportunity to show off your "donator rank" on the forums.
