Can we have the voting prompt check whether your IP has voted rather than account so we don't get the prompt on our alts when we've already voted on another account.

It should work that way, but it only checks the registration ip as far as I know. You could ask to link the ip’s of your alts.

Ask to have your IP's linked here as Miika said and you will no longer run into this issue.
Voting on one account will benefit both by doing this, also.

So long as they set your registration IP to be the same then you shouldn't run into this issue again.
